EAST MIDLANDS ENVIRONMENT LINK
EMEL is the voice of the non-governmental environment sector at the regional level in the East Midlands. We have 7 member organisations covering the full spectrum of environmental interests. We work in association with a number of government agencies to ensure this experience and knowledge informs the regional decision making process.
Our aims are:
- To ensure that environmental conservation and sustainable development are integral components of the strategic planning and development of the region.
- To contribute to the processes where these fundamental principles are incorporated into the work of the Regional Assembly, Regional Development Agency, Government Office and other key policy making bodies.
Our member organisations have a combined membership of over half a million in the East Midlands, owning and protecting thousands of hectares of land and providing millions of visitors with access to our historic and natural environment. A summary of member statistics is available.
